Well, it's almost summer and we've been busy with company, watching the French Open Tennis, and trying to shape up our very overgrown bushes and trees (too hot for this work!), and fix the leak of water into our basement that showed up with the spring rains. Just seems like I don't get out much to take photos right now!
I took my first couple dragonfly photos of the year......a nice Eastern Pondhawk male.
The Eastern Pondhawk male in the back and the Blue Dasher male in the front. These are the two dragonflies that I see the most often. I don't see the females very often, but see the males gliding over the wetlands anytime I go.
Some sort of moth clinging to a chip of bark on the path.
The last time we were at the wetlands there was just this one Canada Goose by itself. I wondered if it had a mate on a nest nearby, but didn't see it.

One wing looked a bit "ruffled".....I hope it doesn't have a wing injury.
Walking the boardwalk through the woods we saw this skink on the rail, but I couldn't get close enough for a very good shot.
I was so surprised by this squirrel that has lost its tail, that at first I didn't realize what it was when it bounded by. So funny looking!

That moth is well hidden,even when in full view.Poor Squirrel,he needs to go to the re-tail shop.:)

Wow! I enlarged that dragonfly and it looked like something out of Star Wars.
How beautifuly that moth blended into its background. Nice picture.
And, that stubby tail doesn't seem to be slowing that squirrel down. It must be able to balance pretty well without it....at least I always thought their tails helped them balance when they were scampering from tree branch to tree branch.

Well, you have lots of wildlife to keep you amused! Last time I saw a squirrel without a tail, was because it was in the mouth of one dog, and the tail was in the mouth of the other dog, and husband was yelling at both of them so he could dispose of the corpse in a seemly manner. They thought he was very greedy, wanting the whole squirrel for himself...
Hi Mary..that squirrel with missing tail gave ma a double take...to funny ..wonder how that happened!!
How big is that Skink...things like that might get a rise out of me even if it is small..they move fast don't they???

Grammie G: A skink is not real big....4-5"? They do move fast. I just saw one at my house today, but he was too fast for me. I still cannot comment on the embedded comment forms. If it requires signing in, I can't do it for some reason, even though I am signed in. I seldom try any more.
This seems to be a good year for Dragonflies. I have seen so many so far. Good shot of that moth. Wonder what it is?

love the funny shape moth and that tailess squirrel looks so so odd no wonder you didn't recognise it.
Haha...re-tail shop--that is a good one. I love that moth...and I have not been taking very many pictures at all. I bet I have not taken many over a hundred in the past month if that...just don't feel like getting out very much. Besides gas being so high.
