We pulled into Washington State Park (DeSota, Missouri) not knowing what we might find there.
Turtle in the road
This very nice creek/river. There were two women sitting in chairs by the water and it looked very comfortable! I was wishing we had a picnic with us.....would have been an ideal place.
Looking at the water the other direction....much greener.
Some sort of bug was really stirring up the water....I have no idea what they are.
Chipping sparrow gathering something.
Pretty purple flower.
We saw a sign for petroglyphs and were trying to find them. I just like this rock :-)
Ah, ha! Found some!
I didn't realize that there were Indian carvings in Missouri, so I'm glad we stopped here.
A boardwalk and roof over the carvings so you can walk along and enjoy them....but not touch them.
They had signs to help you know what you were looking at.
Ah, ha! Found some!

Lovely interesting post Mary. Such a varied time in such a short time too. You packed alot in!
Grammie G: I didn't know there were carvings in that area, too, but I guess with all the different Indians it shouldn't surprise me.
Betsy: I'm pretty confident that the lizard won :-)
Eve: Will check it out! I do love turtles.
Jenny: There is so much to see in that area...and of course I blog everything I see!
I'm constantly amazed at what can be found in state parks we've never heard of.
I would love to know what those bugs were...I have never seen anything like that!
Wow, this looks like a place I'd love to visit. How interesting!
Love the turtle too.
