Quick visit to the heronry in Henderson....

We were headed through Henderson, KY yesterday, so we stopped to see if there were still any heron in the heronry.I was scanning the land/water area for heron fishing and instead found a deer staring back at me:-)
She decided to go hide in the bushes until I went away.

Still a few heron in the nests. I think this is a young one testing its wings while an adult keeps watch.

"I can almost fly!"

Down below in the water....which has receded a lot....there were several learning to fish.
Monday our Vacation Bible School starts and I don't know how much I will get out between that and the second week of Wimbledon.

I am always amazed at those Herons on the nests.
I pray that Vacation Bible School will go well.It is so important to get the gospel message to the children.

Those are just great Mary. Now I must take a ride to the rookery near here to see if there are any left.
Sounds like you have a busy week.

Hi Mary,
I haven't been here in so long. I wonder if that deer was hiding a fawn.
I was watching Wimbleton last night and this morning. I still wish we had an Agassi or a McEnroe. I miss those years. :)

Arija: Thanks! She was pretty, but didn't like me watching her.

Betsy: I'd like to watch them trying their first flight. Mike and I are doing the crafts.

Ruth:The nests never look big enough to support them. VBS got off to a fun start last night and we had a nice turnout for it.

Becky: It's get harder to see them when the trees have more leaves. The area where they were fishing is in an awkward spot to try to get photos.

Grammie G: LOL..I like that thought about shopping :-) I'm glad I saw the deer.

Roy: I probably see less deer than herons, so it was a treat.

Joan: I would be fun to fly sometime...just to see what it was like.

Rambling Round: It's a nice place to watch, but is basically a pull-off at the side of a road and hard to take photos from at times. The weeds and plants at the side of the road are taller than I am right now.

Carletta: The area where she was walking around is usually under water. With all the growth I couldn't tell if she was wading in water or if it has dried out there. Yesterday's tennis was pretty exciting at times. I was sorry to see Roddick get beat.

Rose: I wish it was possible to get closer to that area. It is so hard to shoot photos of this place at this time of year.
