It's berry picking time!
Mike went to the Arboretum U-Pick place on Thursday and picked blueberries....yum! He's already made blueberry pancakes and blueberry muffins!
He planted three of his own bushes this spring.....I think we may have to wait a few years to pick some of our own!
I was photographing lilies when I found the raspberries below, so I threw this in for color :-)
Raspberries!......I picked this in the back yard last night! We found out a couple years ago that we suddenly had raspberry bushes! We didn't plant them. I think the birds must have planted them for us! Thanks!
Double yum!......ice cream and raspberries!
And another lily.

Make me jealous, will I eat the packages from the grocery store!!! Your raspberrys look like blackberrys, but doesn't matter I'm still jealous!!!
Grammie G: They are black raspberries rather than the red kind that you might be thinking of. Very sweet and good eating!
Mmmm berries!

Raspberries! DO you know this is my all time favorite fruit.I grew up with raspberries a plenty. My Mom had a large patch and we picked and sold them every year.I never did tire of eating them.Love the lilies as well.
Blessings,Ruth
Oh my Goodness.... I love RASPBERRIES --and seldom get fresh ones. We pick blackberries here --but don't see any raspberries. YUM!!!!
Love your lily and daylily... And of course the Blueberries are very good for us!!!!
Have a great Saturday.
Hugs,
Betsy
I'll admit it, I'm confused! Do you have both red raspberries and black raspberries and also Blackberries over there? We just have red raspberries and Blackberries. Either way, they look delcious and you have a very nice and very handy husband Mary! (-:
And to think I would enjoy picking either one more than eating them...I can pick, or used to could pick all day and not even eat half a dozen.
Richies: Yum is correct :-)
Ruth: One of my favorites, too!
Betsy: I like all berries...yummy.
Jenny: Yes, we have both red and black raspberries, blackberries, and bosenberries which are similar, too. Raspberries are sort of "hollow"...distictive. Blackberries are solid.
Rose: OK...you can pick them and I'll eat them!
Mary - those berries are making me hungry! I can't wait to go picking some - I plan on making a lot of jam this summer. Your lily was beautiful!
Not only are they making me hungry, but I am coming over right now to have some!! :) Tell Mike to save me some. :)
We have nothing like this growing wild so we have to plant them if we want them and berries like this only grow in the the cooler regions of SA.
Ok, wait for me, I'll be right there. I love berries of any kind, and there are nothing but strawberrys ready around here. Last year I bought many quarts of blueberries picked by the Amish kids, and ran out. Will be getting more this year.
Our Daylilies won't be blooming till around July 4th. I really do like them even though they are everywhere. We use to pick my Mom a bouquet every season.

I bet you will be surprised and get some blueberries at least in the first year. If the bushes like the soil, they'l produce straight away.
I have never seen raspberries that colour before. All ours are bright red.
Your season is so far ahead of ours! Wow. blueberries already... that will be late July or maybe early August for us. You sure know how to make a little 5 year old boy happy! Wow, that was so nice of you! Ann
Such a yummy post, Mary! Those raspberries make my mouth water as I see them. I only ate strawberies this season and they were from a market. You're sooooo lucky :)
The raspberries look like the blackberries in the UK, never seen dark raspberries before,
and blueberries so yummy we have wild blueberries in Wales mostly on the hills or in woodland by the rivers they are so yummy picked and eaten with the morning dew still on them, usually back home they are ready in September October same as the wild mushrooms and blackberries.
