Turtle time!.....

Spring must be coming! We went to the wetlands yesterday and the turtles are starting to come up and sit on the logs. We also heard a lot of frogs already! I love to see them piled all over the logs. It will be another week before the logs really start filling up. The water is so high, some of their favorite logs are underwater at the moment.
Triple treat

Little turtle, big turtle

Mike took a lot of these shots. I liked the stump and grasses in this one as well as the turtle.

I'm not great at turtle identification....especially at a distance. Some are Red-eared Sliders and some are Painted Turtles, I think. Didn't see any Snapping turtles yesterday, but they are in there, too.

How many turtles?

....or here?

Out there with the turtles, this pair of Canada Geese have established a nest on a little island.

She looks very comfortable :-)
I've seen a lot the last couple of days, but am trying to break it up and not show it all at once.

I love your turtle shots and always take time to count...wouldn't they some of your photos of them make a hard puzzle?

Great pictures, Mary!!! The sun brings out the turtles to bask on the logs.

Yeah turtles & frogs! I love turtles and frogs! I don't see as many of either of them around here as I used to. Especially turtles. :(
It's nice to see them on your blog!

Great turtle photos. I was able to photograph some turtles with tadpoles swarming around them last weekend at Bluebonnet Swamp in Louisiana

The turtles are a sure sign that Spring is near. It's good to see them sunning themselves on the logs.

Jenn: Thanks! It certainly is!

Cicero: This is why I don't live in the "frozen north"....early spring!

Rose: I always count them, too. Not a puzzle I would like working.

Ruth: This was a small day compared to when there might be 50 or more out there spread around.

Don: thanks!

Caroline: Thanks!

Dorothy: This water is fairly shallow and is beginning to warm up. That sun was shining and I imagine they were happy to come out and bask.

Deb: I see plenty of turtles but seldom see the frogs...just hear lots of them.

Richies: That must have been neat. Will check your blog.

George: If the rain doesn't quit, their logs will all be under water soon. We saw some officals cleaning drains near the road to let the water go down more easily.

Turtles, turtles everywhere. That IS a good sign. Now if we could only get some open water around here.
