These are the final photos from my last trip to the wetlands.
We saw several beautiful perfect Tiger Swallowtail butterflies.
They were moving constantly and on some rather tall flowers.
I think these black swallowtails are Spicebush.
The male Common Whitetail. When it flies those black wing marks look like flags hanging down. The male is always hanging around the water, but the female is always hanging around the meadow nearby.
The Green Heron was still around, but I was in a poor place to get photos. A little too far away and with the light all wrong.
I was trying to decide if it was the same heron. The other one seemed more "rusty" in the neck area, but it may just be because I was closer and could see it better. This one seems more like a juvenile.
Male Goldfinch getting a drink.
Mrs. Goldfinch having a walk in the water.
There was an Indigo Bunting way up in this tree just singing its heart out. We could hear it everywhere we went that day.
I liked these shaggy acorns. Didn't look them up. Lots of different oak trees at the wetlands.
And of course.....at least one turtle wearing an outfit of duckweed :-)

That is some pretty good odds and ends Mary, especially the Swallowtail.
Wonderful shot!!! Your Flutter-bys are gorgeous!
Wonderful shots, Mary! Lovely butterflies.
Hi There, I'm back after a big birthday week. Trying to catch up a little on my blogging.
Poor little turtle... He needs a nice long BATH.... ha ha ...
Great shots from the wetlands... I love the butterflies --and of course, that heron.
Hugs,
Betsy
The yellow on yellow of those first shots are my favorite. But all so great! By the way, I saw some tracks in the back yard this morning that looked suspiciously like bobcat....I wonder....:-)
