We went to Blue Grass today to picnic and watch birds. It was a really nice day out. We need to enjoy the days while we still have nice weather!
Just as we were leaving I saw this heron standing in a "pool of diamonds".
It was so pretty the way the light was shining on the water and he stalked forth to seek his fortune :-)
A few turtles nearby.
He did manage to find some fish among the "gems".

I was busy over the weekend and am in a quilting frenzy at the moment, so I am way behind in all of your blogs! Will catch up this week and hopefully get a few more things posted from today.

What a way to catch your dinner . . . in a diamond mine?
Great shots, keep that needle flashing.

I love that pool of diamonds. Great images.
That must have been so fun to watch. Thanks for sharing with us.
You've done a marvelous job of capturing that heron among all those 'diamonds'. The pictures are wonderful, and I'm glad to hear that he did get something to eat.
Diamonds indeed, and I absolutely LOVE your header. I haven't seen any Red bellied here since last winter.

Simply beautiful, Mary. Lovely shots, so poised. Yes, it's turning cooler here, too, though we have yet to have the first frost. There are a lot of bright berries about.
Oh how pretty!
Lovely series of shots! I love the mental image of fishing in a pool of diamonds...
I like that 'pool of diamonds.' Perfect description...great captures.
