Squirrel Sunday.....

(Sorry about that folks....he's a little temperamental....I may have to cut his seed ration)

Things that have gotten left behind this week.....

I realized that I have photos from several days that I haven't posted. Some will have to wait, but here are some odds and ends. Every time we go to Blue Grass I see a large bird swooping over the meadow, but can never get good shots. Yesterday the wind was really bad and he was flying into it. This caused him to almost stop in mid-air and I actually managed to focus a couple of shots! A Northern Harrier.
It was after something in the grass and Mike said he saw it with a catch in its claws near the end before he dropped out of sight.

It was great watching him!

I have 3....only 3....of these wonderful pink tulips growing and I really like this one in particular. Rather out of place after a Harrier, but it doesn't fit with anything I have been posting.

Then there was that walk at the wetlands that I never finished. These would be part #3. The Great Blue Heron didn't seem very bothered by my presence, so I kept creeping closer to him and eventually we walk by on the boardwalk and he didn't even fly off.

I really don't think that the front view is at all attractive! What a scrawny looking, rather bedraggled awkward bird from this angle!

Much better in profile! I wonder if it is one from the Heron rookery we are watching, which is about 6 miles (as the heron flies) up the river from these wetlands.

The wetlands has at least one family of geese so far.....4 babes.

Muskrat swimming by. He was with the turtle logs.

Bark damage.....beaver? deer? This was right along the creek area as you enter the woods.

I just thought this was attractive....especially the little winged seed thing at the end.

And a sweet little bunny has been showing up in the evenings in our yard. I saw my first hummingbird today and rushed to put up the feeders, but then it didn't come back while I was looking. I didn't expect them this early.

I've heard of silverback gorillas.....

....but a silverback cat????This is what happens when you are a long-haired cat that is too MEAN to let anyone groom you and brush you to get the mats out. Off to the vet for a shave!
I call this one her "vulture" pose.....with all the fur under her chin shaved.

Poor Mouse!....I'm glad she can't read this blog, although she knew I was taking photos.
I won't let them shave her completely.....maybe I should.

No wonder she has to fight the other kitties all the time!

If I looked like this, I'd probably be in a grumpy mood, too!

Visiting goose family....

Mike was working in the yard yesterday and saw a family of geese approach the lake from the neighbor's yard. He came and got me and the camera.I got there in time to see them set sail for the other side of the lake...a lovely family of 3 little ones.
On the other side there is a wall of railroad ties and rocks, so the parents very patiently swam and walked along with the little ones towards the end by the woods.

A few yards from the end the parents both got out and walked along on top in the yard with the babies down below.
"How are we suppose to get up there???"

"Do you think mom and dad really know what they are doing....we've been walking forever!"

"Oh, wait....I see the end! Yeah! Here we come mom!"

And the family headed off into the woods towards a property where there is another little lake.
I'm glad they stopped by briefly on their journey!

SkyWatch Friday....

It's SkyWatch Friday time! This was the sky over the wetlands on Monday when we saw the owl and swallows. It was a beautiful day!
