I finally downloaded some photos from the camera....mostly from February/

Back during the cold and snow this little squirrel found a walnut and was working very hard to gnaw into it.

We have found 2 different eagles so far this year. This one was at the Blue Grass refuge sitting on the end of a limb near its nest. Very far and I didn't get good photos.
Also went to Hovey Lake near where the Ohio River and the Wabash Rivers meet. We were surprised that it was frozen over! This was last month. Way out along those trees there was some open water with swans, geese, and ducks.

Also, way out there in the trees is an eagle's nest and we could see a white head in it. Look how deep this nest is. It seems much bigger then the one we saw at Blue Grass. Must be old and they keep adding to it each year. We have watched it for several years.
The swans out in the open water of the lake. We will have to go back now that things should be thawed out.

I love the photos of the Cardinal and the Wren...but you got some really great shots of the others, too. I just happen to LOVE wrens, and that photo of the cardinal is just perfect.
I am glad you got your camera card emptied as these are all wonderful birds to see and great shots of them.
Mary, all of your pictures are just great! Love that perky little Wren! Guess those Ducks and Geese are well insulated for swimming in that frigid water!
Great group of pictures, Mary. I have the same group of birds at my feeders. This winter I have a resident Robin --who seems to be at the feeders constantly. Now that Spring is here, maybe he will move on! We also have one Mocker--who tries to be 'in charge'... AND--we've had Tons and Tons of Pine Siskins this year.
Hope you are well and made it through winter this year. We had a rough and devastating Ice Storm with lots of damage.

Great photos, Mary! Somehow I have lost following you on a regular basis, and I just don't know how that happened! I haven't seen any comments on my blog lately and I haven't been by yours, and I apologize! I did get your email a little while back, and really enjoyed hearing from you!
I am finally getting around to answering your questions....no haven't been to Sweetwater except for a very quick stop one day. Chris Rhorer suggested a new place called Coachline Lake which we have visited a couple of times. Mostly Russell and I drive around on dirt roads where there's no traffic and we can go slow, and look for birds. We've been pretty successful that way. Don't have to do any walking. Wish you could see the palo verdes! But I know what you mean about being too hot to come...it's already AC time here!
