Advice from "The Mouse" on winter.....

When you go outside on an icy day......

Look carefully to your left......

Look carefully to your right.........

Then forget the whole thing and go back inside and sleep until dinnertime

(or maybe even spring......or summer.......)

It's cold out here!!!!!!

Update on my quilting UFO's....

Hey....I finished up 2 of my UFO's (see early January list)!! (Take that, Blog Monster!) ......Bella's Butterfly quilt and my Angel quilt for the guild to take to the local hospital are officially finished.
Bella's Butterlies

I found a lovely spring flower print that was perfect for the back and wish I had found it to use in the front also.....oh, well. Can't wait to deliver it in March.

The Angel quilt is simple, but at least I got one done!

Now I am back to working on the quilt from the class I took. I call it "2 Scoops, please....Carmel Nut Sundae and Chip Mint." I finished the main body of the quilt today.....all the A and B blocks are sewn together (and reasonably square with corners matched!) Now I have to add two small inner borders and the beautiful outer border with the points and peaks. When I get this close it gets exciting instead of work :-)
Even though it has an "ice cream" name....since that was the theme for the class......I think it looks "woodsy" and would love to applique some animals in the outer border or add a bird or something! However, I'm not good at applique.....haven't done much. Maybe I can do something like that on the back :-) I don't make decisions very far in advance......when I see the current part finished, I make the next decision.

Mockingbird musings...

For some reason the birds have lost all of their manners and want to show me their messy mouthfuls of food this week! This is the second "tongue" shot! This Mockingbird was posing in all sorts of ways for me, and I should really give it a whole post. It is a very striking bird with little whiskers around its beak, a black stripe through its eye, giving it a slightly sinister look, and the gray color seems to change with the light.

"Daddy's going to buy me a Mockingbird...If that Mockingbird don't sing......."

"Are you quite done staring at me???"......he says.

Wren, Wren.....Wren, Downy.....Squatter's rights on the suet cake battlefield!

When the ice comes, the birds fight for the suet! Every bird for himself!

Uh oh!.......Here comes a new contender! Do I hold the field, or allow sharing???

The Iceman cometh.....again!

Ice storm on the way.....and the Grackles know it. Once again, I have hundreds, but this time I have some corn on hand to help feed them. They really are beautiful birds when you look at them as individuals rather then as "one of hundreds".
